Sitecore Christmas Commercial
More Christmas Fun!
I was asked to design the costumes for the Sitecore Christmas Commercial 2021. It was a comedy spoof of Father Christmas & his helpers. Basically the plot of the promo is that father Christmas has become a bit lazy and not very good at his job, so the workshop team always have to do all the work and get all the gifts out, while he sits there eating mince pies!
They wanted a more workshop/crafters look to the elves (there was a real trend with Christmas commercials this year, with Santa’s helpers feeling more authentic rather than the classic Elf looks.)
I stuck with a traditional Christmas colour palette, but played around with patterns and textures to give the workshop team an edge. I found some really lovely waxed aprons which worked perfectly with the mixed check shirts we created. I wanted some of the elves to have puff ball sleeves for a touch of whimsy. We added patched to their trousers in different contrasting patterns/colours. The looks were accessorised with simple thick cotton hats with a simple trim finish running around the rim, and each helper had a bowtie. I had some classic double layered bowties in the exact red I wanted in my stock so my used those for a few of them then the others had more oversized knotted ribbon neckerchief style bow tie.
The Father Christmas outfit came from a faithful costume hire house I use all the time “Costume Studio” who are based in Islington London. They have a wonderful selection of costumes which include a fantastic Christmas section.
Below are some shots from my studio while prepping the job and also on set. Then a link to the actual promo is also there.
Till next time gang!
